Anonymous "A Lady"
A beautiful DAGUERREOTYPE portrait of an elegantly dressed lady. The plate is really sharp and has an amazing amount of clarity and detail. She is wearing an expensive dress and looks confidently at the camera. The tinting work here is beautiful. Her CHEEKS and LIPS are lightly hand tinted PINK. GOLD tinting on the EARRINGS and on the BROOCH at her collar. GOLD Tinting on the 3 RINGS on her hands. Lots of detail in her dress and lace blouse. Notice she's sitting SIDEWAYS! on the chair. FinePrint: the white spots on the image are light reflections and are NOT on the image. Small spot of tarnish at top, right and bottom that doesn't detract. There are NO spots affecting the image despite the photo. The condition of the 1/9 plate (2 x 2.5"), is EXCELLENT. It has never been cleaned and has full intact original paper seals on the back. The glass is dusty and spotty, and it looks like she has moles on her face - she doesn't. Small stains on foil mat (minor), is probably cleanable. Leather case in good condition but separated at spine. Clasp is attached.
OVERALL A REALLY NICE DAGUERREOTYPE!
